Afraid to Homeschool?

We got a new puppy at the end of June.  He is precious but a bundle of energy so he gets walked several times a day… As we walk, I listen to podcasts, actually anytime I am alone, I listen to podcasts!  Through the COVID quarantine, The Christy Wright Show has become one of my favorites.  I  was listening  to her July 7th episode titled “Need more Time, Money and Energy?  Here’s the Solution” and she read from Matthew 25:14–30 called The Parable of the Talents.

Do you know this parable?  The master in the parable gives out talents (a measure of gold) to three of his servants – two of the servants put their money to use which doubled the money given and the other one just dug a hole and hid his portion.

When the man returned and spoke to the two servants who earned more money for him, he said, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” Matthew 25:23

When he saw the third servant, the servant said,So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.”  Matthew 25:25  So he did nothing but hid his talents.

The master was very angry and then said, “So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags. For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.” Matthew 25:28-29

Here is what I want to emphasize…. The third servant was AFRAID and did nothing but HIDE his portion.  The master got angry and gave the third servant’s portion away to someone who did something with his portion.

Yesterday, our largest local school district shared their thoughts of returning to school this fall.  Due to COVID, nothing seems to be certain. Some moms are freaking out.  I have had many moms ask me about homeschooling.  So much that I just finished writing book on homeschooling on Monday!

Bet you’re asking, Angela, HOW does this parable relate to homeschooling?

Well, here we go…

What talents (something of extreme value) has God given you?

What are you doing with it?

Are you afraid and hiding it?

God is not going to give us more of anything if we do nothing with what we already have been given.

There are thousands of homeschooling tools in our digital age.  If you question if you can homeschool, you can.

Do it scared.  And you WILL be rewarded.

I am here rooting for you!
